Johnson County Alerts!

Weather warnings, emergency, and general county alerts for Johnson County, AR are provided by the Genasys GEM system. Residents of Johnson County can register to receive phone calls to mobile and landline phones, text messages, and e-mails for severe weather warnings, emergency alerts, and general county notifications that effect the locations they enter when they register. They will only receive weather warnings if they are inside the warning polygon issued by the National Weather Service.

There are four ways to register for Johnson County weather warnings, emergency alerts, and general county notifications:

  3. Text “JCAlerts” (without quotes) to 65513
    • Be sure to visit the returned link to set up your location information or you will not get accurate alerts.

NOTE: You must enter location information to get weather alerts! Locations may be added under the “Locations” menu item after you register.

It is recommended that all Johnson County residents and guest have at least two ways of receiving severe weather warnings. Some additional alert methods in addition to registering for the Genasys GEM system include:

  • Local TV/radio stations
    • Live broadcast
    • Mobile smartphone apps
  • Trustworthy social media pages
    • National Weather Service (the NWS Little Rock Office is who issues warnings for Johnson County)

Please Note: Outdoor warning sirens should NOT be trusted to alert you indoors, especially during a loud storm. Outdoor warning sirens are ONLY intended to alert people outside to seek shelter and get more information from a reliable source. They should never be your only method of getting warnings.
