Paradise Valley Skydiving is hosting a large event (King Air Affair) on November 4 through November 6, 2022 at the Clarksville airport during daylight hours. They will be having up to 20 people jumping at a time from 17,000 feet with jumps occurring roughly every 15 minutes. They have asked to have responders on standby in the event any jumpers drift off course and land away from the airport. Jumpers could potentially land as far away as 5-10 miles from the airport depending on the wind conditions at different altitudes. The Johnson County Dept of Search and Rescue team and Johnson County ARES/AUXCOMM group will be assisting with spotting and rescuing off-course jumpers as well as coordinating rescue operations. This will be an excellent time to exercise working with different agencies over a large area using alternate communication methods not using the counties primary repeaters. Any Johnson County fire department personnel that would also like to assist can contact EM2 at 479-774-0128 for details and possible task assignments. There will be a pre-event briefing Thursday, November 3 at 5 pm at the Johnson County DEM Building at 1695 Hwy 21 (location of Johnson County Road Department) for anyone planning on assisting.
