All FEMA and Arkansas Fire Training Academy courses are now requiring a FEMA Student ID (FEMA SID) to register. If you do not already have a FEMA SID you may register for one at https://cdp.dhs.gov/femasid/register
In-Person Training

HazMat Awareness
- Link takes you to ADEM page with process to signup for FEMA on-line course and how to get ADEM credit for the course
- An ADEM approved in-person HazMat Awareness course is also accepted
- Required for all responders
IS-100 - Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS 100
- Required for all responders
IS-200 - Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, ICS-200
- Required for all responders
IS-700 - An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
- Required for all responders
IS-800 - National Response Framework, An Introduction
- Required for all responders
At least one of these options for Traffic Incident Management is Required for all responders
- National Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Responder Training (National Highway Institute)
- National Traffic Incident Management (TIM) Responder Training (Responder Safety Learning Network)
- An approved in-person Traffic Incident Management Course
SKYWARN Storm Spotter Training
- This course is recognized by the NWS. See https://www.weather.gov/lzk/skywarn.htm for more information.
- The in-person Basic Storm Spotter training taught by the NWS is also accepted
- Recommended for all responders; Required for some SAR responders
The following On-line Courses are required for some Search and Rescue Team Members qualifications.
At least one of the following options for OHV/UTV/ATV Safety training
- Recreational Off-Highway Vehicle Association Safety E-Course
- ATV Safety Institute’s free ATV E-Course
- Any other OHV/UTV/ATV safety course approved by the SAR Coordinator
At least one of the following options for Basic Aviation Safety training
- MRA’s Helicopters in Search and Rescue- Basic Level
- Base Medical’s Helicopter Operations for SAR Responders
- Any other training meeting DOI OAM A-100 Basic Aviation Safety training that is approved by the SAR Coordinator
An approved crime scene preservation class
- Online NASAR Crime Scene Preservation, Protocol, and Evidence Awareness Course
- Any other on-line or in-person crime scene preservation class approved by the SAR Coordinator and/or local law enforcement

- Who: Anyone that wants to help plan the 2025 KidsFest Fire Safety Event that will be held in early October as part of National Fire Prevention Week

- Who: Johnson County Fire Chiefs, Assistant Chiefs, and representatives from other county agencies
